Partner with us in extraordinary projects in the field of modern science and medicine. We invest in prevention, new diagnostic and therapeutic methods, and we develop innovative trends in personalised medicine. Our work focuses on stem cells and their therapeutic potential, genetics, gene engineering, microbiome and virtual infrastructure.
Stem cells are vitally important components of our blood. They enable our body to produce white and red blood cells and provide lifelong help in reparing damaged tissues.
Our project involves the collecting and preservation of haematopoietic stem cells from cord and adult blood. The conserved cells are available anytime, ready to improve haematogenesis, strengthen immune system or treat serious diseases.
Our pilot project focused on stem cells application in veterinary medicine. The germs of mesenchymal stem cells can be therapeutically collected from the bone marrow or isolated from the fat tissue, umbilical cord and placenta. Before application, the cells can be further propagated in the laboratory. The prepared stem cells are then ready to support the natural healing processes. They are applied to the place of injury, e.g. into the musculoskeletal system. The mesenchymal stem cells also display a unique immunomodulation activity which is utilisable for treating allergies, autoimmune diseases or during transplantations.
Modern medicine offers new diagnostic opportunities. Significant progress in analysing the human genome within the recent decade has made it possible to precisely assess an individual’s genetic risk for various metabolic, oncologic, endocrinologic, neurologic or immunologic diseases. In the QGEN project, we offer testing for the genetic predispositions to selected diseases with a high predictable risk potential. These genetic analysis outcomes are crucial in the prevention or postponement of specific disease outbreak.
Current lifestyle, characterised by low level of physical activity, overeating, obesity, stress and impaired biorhythms, is a contributing reason for the current aggravation of male fertility statistics. Only half of men aged under 35 years currently display fully functional sperm. Despite this striking fact, the treatment procedures in a majority of medical facilities are still outdated and neglect to fully address these issues. In MCP, clients are offered professional and discreet high-standard examinations including chronic infection or nutrition advice under professional supervision. We also provide sperm banking for male reproductive conservation.
Recent advances in the field of genetics allow for a deeper analysis of inherent dispositions of all newborns. A detailed examination of their immune system is dealt with in the section Immunity. The level of newborns’ immune system maturity, immunodeficiency, the risk of allergy and autoimmunity outbreak can be determined from the umbilical cord blood. In the Vaccination part, we discuss the issue of vaccines, immunity and associated risks. A personalised vaccination schedule helps minimise the potential health complications. The Breastfeeding section is dedicated to the complex immunological properties and microbiome of mother’s milk. We can help your child select the right school or sport based on its genetic predispositions, and optimise healthy and balanced development of its personality.
Dysbiosis, characterised as an imbalance in the gut microbial community, is associated with a number of health issues, including obesity, diabetes, some types of cancer, but also mental disorders such as depression. The technological advances in molecular biology, namely the next-generation sequencing, provide insight into the amazing, however yet insufficiently explored universe of the human microbiome. The microbiome composition can be regulated by a diet, prebiotics and probiotics, in certain cases by the administration of antibiotics, antimycotics, virostatics, antiparasitics or other drugs. A novel trend is the preventive biobanking of own healthy microbiome.
A healthy lifestyle is a great tool to keep in good condition and reduce the risk of developing civilization diseases (e.g. diabetes and hypertension). We can tailor-make a meal plan and recipes based on individual diagnosis and personal preferences, we can modify your microbiome. Clients with suspected food allergies and intolerance are provided with complex diagnostics and professional counselling. Nowadays, due to disturbed environment and prevailing lifestyle, conceiving a healthy child has become still more problematic. Hence we counsel future parents, pregnant and breastfeeding women. We can design a diet plan customized to your blood group, mitochondrial and Y chromosomal haplotype.
The project Sport deals with genetic constitution and optimal nutrition. We help clients from a young age select a suitable sport discipline and we provide nutrition advice in order to build individual physical constitution. We make the training plan effective for both individuals and teams. Some of the factors under consideration when choosing the right sport are height, muscular, ligamentar, bone and joint constitution, condition of cardiovascular system, metabolic and energetic potential, ability to recover from physical exercise and injury, immune system condition, stress hormones level and mental durability. Genetic testing of individuals and/or sport teams helps identify positive and negative predispositions. This method allows to optimise the training plan and effectivity, as well as prevent certain injuries. In addition, we develop an individualised nutrition plan based on the results of the genetic analysis.
Mitochondria, also called our ‘cell power stations‘, are organelles vitally important for cell functioning. Unfortunately, their quality and efficiency reduce with time, bringing about the aging process. That’s why mitochondria need to be looked after. Their regeneration delays the outbreak of age-related diseases and slows down the aging process. The project Mitochondria is focused on stem cell exploitation for either one-off or continuous transplantation of patients’ own mitochondria. The mitochondrion transplantation project is one of the priorities of our work.
This project involves the preventive preservation of stem cells for space explorers. Space travel poses significant health risks, namely exposition to cosmic rays, radiation, toxic gases and other toxic substances. These can irreversibly damage stem cells, which are responsible for haematogenesis. Astronauts on long space missions, such as a voyage to Mars, will likely need to have some of their stem cells safely conserved and stored e.g. on board the spacecraft. Similar acute health risks, and the necessity of preventive precautions, apply also to other high-risk occupations, e.g. in the armed forces, civil aviation, chemical industry, nuclear industry or healthcare.
Gene therapy is gaining importance as a revolutionary therapeutic tool of modern medicine. New discoveries in molecular biology and technical procedures increase the precision of interventions into the cell genome. Gene engineering is a promising tool for the correction of congenital anomalies and for treating HIV positive patients. With our partners from the Netherlands and the African Union, we are building a unique technological background for the treatment of HIV positive patients. The treatment is based on individual gene adjustment of hematopoietic stem cells. Using the method CRISPR/Cas9 we target the receptor CCR5 with an intent of preventing HIV-1 virus from entering the immune system cells.
Our portal pyly.cz provides information for allergic patients as well as physicians. It offers a regular weekly pollen newscast, a pollen calendar showing the current intensity of pollen particles action, and a photo-gallery of allergenic plants with detailed descriptions. The portal also includes a database of physicians (alergology, immunology) and pharmacies all over the Czech Republic. Since 2016, our mobile app has enabled patients to monitor their health status and send information about ongoing, acute or continuous health problems to their physician. It is freely available for the iOS and Android systems. Since 2018, we have also run the GREEN POINT SERVIS (e-prescription, physician, pharmacy).
Modern medicine is connected with digitalisation, miniaturisation of technologies and affordability of modern technical equipment. In addition to sound and images, various sensors are able to scan temperature, humidity, IR or UV radiation, monitor the levels of blood sugar or minerals, and even the functions of the cardiovascular system. It has now become possible to administer medication or even perform surgery online. We are developing an IT platform that will efficiently interconnect patients‘ health records (including genetic records), data on current health status, medications and various technological monitoring devices.
